The Summer Solstice is that turning point at which the daylight reaches its peak, making the night the shortest of the year.
An opportunity to celebrate together the Summer Solstice by exploring the correspondences between the Wheel of the Year, the Moon Cycle, and the Elements of Nature, focusing in particular on Water.
From now on, the daylight will decrease until the Winter Solstice. Even if this is the beginning of the Summer, something tells us that from now on it’s time to save some energy, and also reminds us that the time we dedicate to regenerating and nurturing ourselves allows us to deal with any challenge.
Although Summer is associated with the Sun, and so with Fire (as we also find out following the teachings from other traditions, for example as taught by Grandfather Dominique Rankin in the the Anicinape tradition), Summer also connects deeply to Water, according to Astrology and the Hermetic tradition. The beginning of Summer occurs when the Sun enters the sign of Cancer, a Water sign, inviting us to look for emotional (and spiritual) nourishment.
To celebrate this moment, through mindful movement and dance, we will explore the Wheel of the Year (the seasons, moon phases, and their correspondences with Nature’s Elements), focusing especially on Water and its cycle, and on how Fire (the Sun’s heat) transforms Water, carrying it through Air before returning it to Earth, where it nourishes and renews life.
Through our body, we will celebrate Water as a source of healing, regeneration, and prosperity, and experience how to flow in life.
The movement explorations and activations are accessible to anyone. Wear comfortable clothes (and socks), and bring your water!
Proceeds go to financing sliding scale drama therapy groups!
