Martin Story-Kapusta - He | Him
Drama Therapist
Graduating in 2017 from the MA Drama & Movement Therapy programme at the Royal Central School for Speech & Drama (London, UK), a creative-arts-based intervention is at the heart of my approach, specifically utilizing therapeutic interventions via variable mediums of embodied expression such as movement/dance, story, and dramatization. Through this approach it is possible for all demographics (young children into adulthood) to work with themes and issues in their life in a more oblique/indirect way that is also very experiential in nature.
That being said, over the years I have also trained in and practiced a variety of other adjacent methodologies that can be used in session, such as: mindfulness techniques & practice for acute mental health issues & chronic pain, play therapy for younger children & families, verbal counselling approaches & non-violent communication methods, and a combination of behavioural, psychodynamic & developmental frameworks to inform every part of the process.
As a queer individual (cis-gender male) and also one with neuro-atypicalities and health issues, I am comfortable working with these demographics of experience and through my personal understanding of the challenges that may be associated with these realms, I can provide a more intimate & personalized experience for each client.
MA Drama & Movement Therapy (SESAME) – Psychodynamic & Developmental Frameworks
Compassion-Based Psychotherapy & Mindfulness Interventions
Non-Violent Communication Method
Play Therapy
Myth & storytelling, dramatization & roleplay, theatre ritual, authentic movement, dance forms, voice work, musical expression, projected play forms (including: art, sculpture & creative writing/poetry)
